Intermediate Arts: (Grades 3-5)
- Continued exposure to a wide variety of media and techniques with the intent of fine tuning skills to gain control of visual expression.
- Art traditions expand to include symbols and various methods of visual communication.
- Students will begin to consider the effectiveness of their own work in formal discussions and through continued exposure to artwork of different eras.
- Students will begin to make connections between the arts and the other areas of academic studies.
Grades 3-5:
1: Understand and apply media, techniques, and processes related to the visual arts.
2: Understand the visual arts in relation to history and cultures and other disciplines.
3: Understand the characteristics and merits of one’s own artwork and the artwork of others.
4: Know a range of subject matter, symbols, and potential ideas in the visual arts.
5: Know how to use the elements and principals of art.
